FLEXnet Connect

This document shows the technical specifications for the Self-Hosted (On-Site) FLEXnet Connect Solution.

Requirements to View the Publisher Site

Viewing the FLEXnet Connect Publisher site and posting updates or messages requires a Web browser. The Publisher site supports Internet Explorer 6.0 or later and Firefox 1.03 or later support

Windows Client Requirements

The FLEXnet Connect Windows client requires Windows® 98 or later running Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. Note that Internet Explorer does not need to be the default browser.

An end user without administrative rights can run FLEXnet Connect to check for updates, but the installation of an update may require administrative rights. The rights required to install an update depend on the administrative rights required by the update rather than those of the FLEXnet Connect client.

Java Client Requirements

The FLEXnet Connect Java Client supports the following platforms: Windows 98 and later, Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux, AIX, HP-UX and any flavor of UNIX. JRE versions 1.4.2 and later are supported for the Java client run time.

An end user without administrative rights can run FLEXnet Connect to check for updates, but the installation of an update may require administrative rights. The rights required to install an update depend on the administrative rights required by the update rather than those of the FLEXnet Connect client.

Database Requirements

For the FLEXnet Connect database, FLEXnet Connect supports Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005; IBM Cloudscape 10.0 (Apache Derby); and Oracle 9i or 10g versions.

For the optional FLEXnet Connect reporting database (available to self-hosted, Premier edition users only). FLEXnet Connect requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005.

Publisher Management Portal and Customer Management Portal Requirements

Except where exceptions are noted, the FLEXnet Connect Publisher Management Portal (PMP), Customer Management Portal (CMP), and other servers share the same system requirements.

Note: No other Web application can share the FLEXnet Connect server machines.
